Discover a step-by-step Subway Surfers guide that shows how to turn your gameplay into real rewards using Playtime.
I’ve been reviewing mobile games for years, and one trend that’s impossible to ignore is the rise of rewarded games. These are titles where you don’t just play for fun — you also earn money playing games through apps like Playtime.
Instead of grinding for hours with no return, rewarded games let you turn that same time into gift cards, PayPal cash, or real-world rewards. It’s a win-win: the joy of gaming plus the satisfaction of making your free time productive.
And when it comes to popularity, few games can compete with Subway Surfers. It was officially named the most downloaded mobile game of the decade (2010–2019), and in 2018, it became the first game ever to surpass 1 billion downloads on Google Play
When combined with Playtime, it turns into a fun way to play and earn, where every run has the potential to bring real rewards.
Ready to start? Download Subway Surfers here and connect it with Playtime to begin earning while you play.
If you’ve owned a smartphone in the last decade, chances are you’ve tried or at least seen Subway Surfers. Launched in 2012 by SYBO Games and Kiloo, this endless runner became the first game to reach 1 billion downloads on Google Play. Today, it’s sitting at over 2.7 billion downloads, making it one of the most-played mobile games ever.
The premise is simple: you’re Jake (or one of his friends), a graffiti artist caught spraying trains. The Inspector and his dog chase you, and your goal is to run endlessly across subway tracks, dodging trains, leaping barriers, and collecting coins.
- Instant fun: You can play for 2 minutes or 2 hours — it’s equally rewarding.
- Colorful design: Bright, cartoonish visuals that feel timeless.
- World Tour updates: Every month, the setting changes to a new city like Paris, Tokyo, or Rio.
- Simple controls: Just swipe up, down, left, or right — anyone can learn it in seconds.
I still remember my first session: I swiped too slowly, slammed into a train, and laughed as the Inspector dragged me off. Within minutes, I was hooked
Subway Surfers is easy to pick up but hard to master. You’ll need quick reflexes and sharp focus as the game speeds up.
- Swipe up to jump, down to roll under barriers
- Swipe left/right to switch lanes.
- Collect coins, keys, and tokens to unlock characters and upgrades.
- Use hoverboards to avoid crashes and jetpacks to soar over trains.
The loop is endless: the longer you run, the higher your score. But here’s where it gets interesting: when you play Subway Surfers via Playtime, every minute of gameplay isn’t just fun — it’s also putting rewards into your pocket.
This is the question every gamer asks: “Can I really earn money playing Subway Surfers?”
The short answer: Yes, but manage your expectations. Subway Surfers itself doesn’t pay you directly. But through Playtime, your sessions are tracked and converted into points you can redeem for PayPal cash or gift cards.
- Playing around 20 minutes a day for a week, I earned enough Playtime credits for a $5 Amazon gift card.
- Casual players can expect a few extra dollars per week.
- Consistent players who combine Subway Surfers with other.
- Playtime games can steadily build a nice side pot of passive income rewards.
So, will you get rich? No. But compared to surveys or tedious side hustles, this feels far more fun and natural.
There are countless mobile games, but Subway Surfers has some unique advantages that make it perfect for Playtime.
1. Global Popularity & Trust
It’s not a fly-by-night app — it’s a decade-old classic with billions of downloads. You know your time won’t be wasted on a game that might disappear in a month.
2. Short-Burst Fun
Unlike strategy games or RPGs that require hours, Subway Surfers is built for quick, repeatable fun. Perfect for filling waiting time while earning.
3. Constant Updates
With its World Tour events, Subway Surfers stays fresh. I loved the Tokyo edition for its neon visuals, while the Paris update had gorgeous backgrounds. This keeps players coming back—and consistent play means consistent earnings.
4. Accessibility
Anyone can play. My niece (8) and my uncle (55) both tried it, and within minutes they were hooked. That universal appeal makes it one of the most engaging choices for Playtime users.

If you’re new, here’s a quick step-by-step guide:
1. Download Subway Surfers through Playtime.
2. Start with the default character Jake.
3. Learn the basic swipes: up (jump), down (roll), left/right (switch lanes).
4. Collect coins to buy upgrades.
5. Unlock characters like Tricky and Fresh as you progress.
6. Don’t forget to upgrade power-ups like the coin magnet and jetpack early.
If you want to maximize both your in-game score and Playtime rewards, focus on these:
- Jetpack: Fly above trains and collect massive coin trails.
- Coin Magnet: Pulls coins without needing perfect lane positioning.
- Super Sneakers: Jump higher and cover more ground.
- 2x Multiplier: Doubles your score for a short time.
- Hoverboard: Protects you from a crash once activated.
I can’t count the number of times a hoverboard saved a million-point run. Always keep one ready.
One reason Subway Surfers has lasted so long is its event system.
- Daily Challenges: Simple goals like “Collect 500 coins".
- Weekly Hunts: Bigger missions with character tokens.
- Season Hunts: Collect special items (like dragon tokens) for exclusive rewards.
What I love is how these events tie into Playtime: they give you reasons to log in daily, and that consistency means steady earn rewards points too.
On top of that, Subway Surfers has a massive community presence on TikTok, YouTube, and Reddit. Players share insane runs, challenges, and hacks. Joining this community makes the experience even richer.
Here’s how to turn play into pay:
2. Install Subway Surfers through Playtime.
3. Play normally — dodge trains, collect coins, complete challenges.
4. Earn Playtime credits for every session.
5. Reedeem for:
- PayPal cash

Simple: Play → Earn → Cash Out.
Pros

Cons

As a professional reviewer, I’ve tested hundreds of mobile games, and Subway Surfers remains one of the most iconic, fun, and rewarding experiences on mobile.
On its own, it’s a classic endless runner that still holds up after more than a decade. But when paired with Playtime, it becomes something more: a passive income app that lets you get paid to play games you already enjoy.
No, you won’t pay your rent with Subway Surfers. But as a side hustle, it’s perfect: fun, addictive, and rewarding. Personally, I’d rather spend 15 minutes earning with Subway Surfers than wasting the same time scrolling social media.
